Connecting communities since 1427.mp4

Welcome to Little Yarmouth

At Little Yarmouth, we believe a coffee shop should be more than just somewhere to grab a drink. It should be a place where people can pause, connect and become part of the community around them. Located beside Haven Bridge in Great Yarmouth, Little Yarmouth was created to celebrate both exceptional coffee and the remarkable history that surrounds us every day. Our name is inspired by a piece of local history that has almost been forgotten.

Why Little Yarmouth?

Many people know this area as Southtown, but centuries ago it was known as Little Yarmouth. Long before the modern boundaries we recognise today, Little Yarmouth was a distinct settlement situated on the southern side of the River Yare. It developed around one of the most important crossing points between Norfolk and Suffolk and became a busy area for travellers, fishermen, merchants and local communities. For hundreds of years, the river crossing here shaped daily life. Before bridges existed, ferries carried people, animals and goods between both sides of the river, connecting Great Yarmouth to the communities further south.

As Great Yarmouth grew into one of England's most significant ports, the area opposite the town became increasingly important in supporting trade and movement throughout the region. Over time, the historic name of Little Yarmouth gradually disappeared from common use and the area became known as Southtown. While the name changed, its importance as a place of connection never did.

We chose to revive the name because we believe local history deserves to be remembered and shared with future generations.

Inspired by Haven Bridge

Haven Bridge sits at the heart of our story. For centuries, this crossing has brought people together. The original bridge, built in the early 15th century, replaced the ferry crossing and transformed how people moved between Great Yarmouth and Southtown. Over the years, several versions of the bridge have stood here, each adapting to the changing needs of the town and its people.

Today, Haven Bridge remains one of Great Yarmouth's most recognisable landmarks and a symbol of connection between communities. That idea of connection is central to who we are. Just as Haven Bridge links both sides of the river, we hope Little Yarmouth will bring people together too.

The Meaning Behind Our Logo

Our logo proudly features Haven Bridge as a tribute to the history of this location. It represents more than a structure crossing the River Yare. It symbolises community, movement and the generations of people who have passed through this part of Great Yarmouth for hundreds of years. The bridge reminds us that places evolve, but their stories remain. By incorporating Haven Bridge into our identity, we are honouring the past while creating something new for the future.

Long before we became professional roasters, our family worked among the coffee trees, carefully harvesting cherries by hand in Colombia's renowned coffee growing regions. Through years of experience, we learned that exceptional coffee begins long before roasting, it starts with picking the right cherry at exactly the right moment.

Coffee cherries do not all ripen at the same time. The finest Arabica coffees come from cherries that are harvested at peak ripeness, when their deep red colour and natural sugar content have fully developed. Picking too early can result in underdeveloped flavours, while harvesting too late can diminish the coffee's quality. This understanding has been passed down through our family for generations and remains at the heart of how we select and source our coffees today.

From Our Family Farm to Your Cup

At Little Yarmouth, coffee is more than a drink, it is our heritage, our livelihood, and our passion.

Our roots begin in the mountains of Colombia, where generations of our family have worked as coffee farmers, cultivating some of the world's finest Arabica coffee. Today, although we proudly call the United Kingdom home, our connection to the Colombian coffee lands remains as strong as ever. It is our honour to bring a true taste of Colombia directly to your cup through our carefully selected single-origin coffees.

As growers and coffee specialists, we understand every stage of the journey—from nurturing young coffee plants on the farm to roasting and packaging each batch with care here in Great Yarmouth. This unique connection allows us to offer coffee with exceptional traceability, quality, and authenticity.

Every bean we source reflects generations of farming knowledge, respect for the land, and a commitment to producing outstanding coffee.

Expertly Roasted in the UK

We bridge the heritage of Colombian farming with local UK roasting expertise. Every batch is precisely controlled to preserve the distinct 100% Arabica notes sourced from our farmers.
